DOWNEY — Roger Bradley, assistant city manager in Corona, will become the city manager of Downey reigns March 14, replacing Gil Livas, who retired several months ago. Mark Scott has been serving as interim city manager.
The City Council Feb. 14 unanimously approved a four-year contract with Bradley at a salary of $287,456 a year.
The starting pay “is consistent with the salary of the prior incumbent,” said Human Resources Director James McQueen.
The contract includes an auto allowance of $300 a month, a $10,000 a year contribution to the state employees public employees retirement system plus fringe benefits such as leaves, holidays, health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance “consistent with those provided other executive employees,” McQueen said in a report to City Council.
The contract also stipulates that the city manger must work at least 40 hours a week and overtime, if necessary, with no extra compensation, but can take time off with vacation and holiday benefits, membership dues in local organizations and expenses for travel on city business, McQueen said.
There will be an annual performance review by the City Council, he added.
“Upon retirement of the prior city manager, a nationwide search began for a replacement conducted through the recruitment firm Bob Murray and Associates,” McQueen said in his report.
The city received 41 applications for the position.
