Mental health workers at Kaiser go out on strike
State Sen. Maria Elena Durazo addresses striking mental health care workers at Kaiser Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Oct. 21. Nearly 2,400 workers at Kaiser facilities across Southern California walked off the job. The union’s contract expired in September.

Ex-LAPD officer may face charges in 2015 fatal shooting

Actress/director Debbie Allen speaks Oct. 18 at the unveiling of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the late actress Juanita Moore. Moore, who died in 2013 at the age of 93, was nominated for an Academy Award as best supporting actress in 1960 for her role in ‘Imitation of Life.’
