At long last, Ms. Lauryn Hill’s delayed tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the landmark release “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” comes to Toyota Arena on April 5 with special guest YG Marley, her son with Rohan Marley and grandson of the late Bob Marley.

It arrives on the heels of the album being named one of 10 honorees for The Grammy Museum’s Inaugural Grammy Hall of Fame Gala to be held May 21 at the Novo Theater.

This year’s additions include four albums and six singles that exhibit qualitative or historical significance and are at least 25 years old.

The other esteemed albums are De La Soul’s “3 Feet and Rising,” Guns N’ Roses’ “Appetite For Destruction” and “Buena Vista Social Club.”

Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love,” “Wanda Jackson’s “Let’s Have A Party,” “William Bell’s “You Don’t Miss Your Water,” “Charlie Pride’s “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’,” and “Ory’s Creole Trombone” by Kid Ory’s Creole Orchestra are the inducted single recordings.

With The Recording Academy ushering in its 50th anniversary, this year’s gala will be the first of what will become an annual event and includes a red carpet and VIP reception on the Ray Charles Terrace at the museum, followed by a one-of-a-kind concert at the Novo produced by longtime Executive Producer of the Grammy Awards, Ken Ehrlich with musical direction by globally renowned producer and keyboardist Greg Phillinganes (who is touring with Toto this summer).

IN ACCEPTENCE: “Tonight you called me an innovator, and for that I’m very grateful. Innovation starts with a dream. But then you have to execute that dream, and that road can be very bumpy. Being an innovator is seeing what everyone believes is impossible. Being an innovator often means being criticized, which often will test your mental strength. … My hope is that we’re more open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art, with no preconceived notions.” – BEYONCE at the iHeartRadio Music Awards

LOOSE LIPS: HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher launched a podcast network pairing his “Club Random” show with ones by controversial ex-ESPN SportsCenter anchor Sage Steele, of whom Maher believes is “the perfect choice to be our first new host because, like me, she pissed off Disney” and “KG Certified” from free speaking NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett

In the meantime, journalist/author Roland Martin on his Unfiltered Daily Digital Show called out Maher for his recent take on identity politics. “If you want to have a real conversation on the reality of America, bring it,” said Martin, because all that bulls—t you brought was exactly that,” said Martin, who has had a 10-year absence from Maher’s show. “Did not past the smell test because you, Bill Maher, are literally in denial as a white man in America of the reality of what we face in this country every single day. You get to sit in your largely white enclave at HBO and you get to pontificate in a snark, arrogant ass way. Well, the facts simply do not line up.”
