Downey relocates prototype of space shuttle program 

Inspiration, an original mock-up of the space shuttle that was built in 1972, slowly moves through the streets of Downey Oct. 17 headed to its new home at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, which will house the mock-up once an addition to the center is built.

Ex-student paints murals on doors at Pioneer High

Pioneer High School class of 2012 graduate Domingo Perez admires a classroom mural he painted, depicting Mexican history and folklore. Perez’s portraits and artistic flourishes adorn nearly a dozen classroom doors at Pioneer, part of an ongoing project that began when Perez was still a Pioneer student painting his friend’s backpacks for fun.
