Governor proposes doubling tax credit for film shoots

Gov. Gavin Newsom came to Hollywood Oct. 27 to announce a proposal to double the tax credit the state offers for to producers of films and TV shows that shoot in California. The plan, which needs approval from the state Legislature, could take effect as early as next July.

Pioneer actress Juanita Moore finally gets her star

Actress/director Debbie Allen speaks Oct. 18 at the unveiling of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the late actress Juanita Moore. Moore, who died in 2013 at the age of 93, was nominated for an Academy Award as best supporting actress in 1960 for her role in ‘Imitation of Life.’
