WEST HOLLYWOOD — The city’s Summer Sounds Free Outdoor Concert Series returns for 2024 on select Sunday evenings at 4 p.m. between July 7 and Aug. 18, at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.
Summer Sounds concerts are free to attend. RSVPs are not required but are requested. Reserved seating is not available. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, park blankets and low chairs. Food also will be available for purchase.
Summer Sounds will kick off July 7 with Blanco y Negro, Andre Cruz and Chris Lujan, and DJ Monalisa.
Blanco y Negro is a Los Angeles-based Latin ska band that has been entertaining audiences for more than a decade. The band was formed in the early 2010s by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for Latin music and ska.
Over the years, Blanco y Negro has become a well-known fixture in the Los Angeles music scene and has gained a loyal following of fans who love their high-energy performances and catchy, danceable tunes.
Andre Cruz and Chris Lujan, backed by the five-piece Black Diamond Rhythm Band, dish up their own unique recipe of fuzz heavy, groove-infused, soul and funk. The concert also will feature DJ Monalisa who has been associated with music in Los Angeles for three decades.
Monalisa has a show on Dublab called Paths of Rhythm, and is a member of Umoja Hi-Fi Soundsystem, KPL All-Stars, Ladies of Sound, Prism DJs, and LA’s Motown on Mondays.
Emi Secrest, the Gumbo Brothers and DJ R-Tistic will perform July 28. The Neighborhood Orchestra and DJ Aaron Paar will perform Aug. 18.
