HOLLYWOOD — A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was unveiled Oct. 3 for actress Lauren Graham, two days before the 25th anniversary of the premiere of “Gilmore Girls.”
“This is just so overwhelming and so nice,” Graham said at the late-morning ceremony at 6284 Hollywood Blvd. in front of the W Hollywood Hotel. “It’s so moving to see so many friends and colleagues here.
“I just feel so proud of the work I’ve gotten to do, and so lucky to have gotten to work with some incredible writers and showrunners. Whether I said your words as written or I made them my own, I would be nothing without the shows you created and the … parts that you gave me to play,” she added.
“Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino preceded Graham in speaking. Cast members Kelly Bishop, Matt Czuchry, Scott Patterson and Yanic Truesdale were also in attendance.
Born in Honolulu on March 16, 1967, and raised in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C., Southampton, New York and Japan, Graham received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Barnard College in 1988 and a master’s degree in acting performance from Southern Methodist University in 1992.
Graham, who received her star in the television category, made her debut in the medium in a 1993 episode of the ABC daytime drama “Loving,” portraying a college student. Her prime-time debut came in a 1995 episode of the NBC comedy “Caroline in the City,” in what would be a recurring role as the short-term girlfriend of cartoon strip colorist Richard Karinsky (Malcolm Gets).
Graham has been a cast member on five network series beginning with the 1996-97 ABC comedy “Townies.” Her other pre-“Gilmore Girls” series were the 1998 NBC comedy “Conrad Bloom,” which ran for nine episodes, and “M.Y.O.B.” which ran for four episodes on NBC in June 2000.
After “Gilmore Girls” — a comedy-drama that ran from 2000-06 on The WB and from 2006-07 on The CW following The WB merger’s with UPN that created The CW — Graham was a cast member of the 2010-15 NBC family drama “Parenthood.”
She reprised her role of Lorelai Gilmore in Netflix’s 2016 four-episode “Gilmore Girls” miniseries sequel, “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.”
Graham starred in the 2021-22 Disney+ comedy-drama “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.” Her latest series, the comedy “The Z-Suite,” began streaming on Tubi last February.
Graham’s other television credits include “Seinfeld,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Law & Order.”
Graham’s movie credits include “Bad Santa” and “Evan Almighty.” She portrayed Miss Adelaide in a 2009 revival of “Guys and Dolls” on Broadway.
