Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, 58, addressed recent remarks made by her ex-husband, former MLB star David Justice, about their marriage in a lighthearted way on social media. Justice, who was married to Berry from 1993 to 1997, shared in a recent interview that Berry “didn’t cook, didn’t clean” and didn’t appear “motherly” during their brief marriage.

Speaking candidly on the All the Smoke podcast, Justice reflected on their young age and inexperience in relationships at the time. “I was young and had only been in one real relationship before her,” he said. He questioned whether Berry was the right partner for starting a family, based on her domestic habits and emotional demeanor as he remembered them. “If we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with? At that time… she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem motherly — and then we start having issues.”

Justice also cited their busy schedules as a challenge, noting Berry’s demanding acting career kept them apart for long stretches. “She was doing movies in this country, that country,” he recalled. He added that their marriage might have survived if they had known about therapy, saying, “Honestly, we probably could have made it if I knew about therapy.”

Justice revealed Berry had proposed after just five months of dating. “I said OK, but I don’t know if my heart was really into it,” he admitted. “I didn’t want to make her feel bad and say no.”

The interview quickly went viral, stirring debate on social media about relationship expectations, gender roles, and the pressures of celebrity marriages.

Berry appeared unfazed by the comments and responded with humor. On Instagram, she posted a carousel of photos captioned, “Phew…! cooking, cleaning and mothering…” Her post was widely received with thousands of likes and supportive comments praising her playful comeback to her ex-husband’s statements.
