“Un Billón Mindset: Health,” by Marysol Uribe, is an insightful book urging readers to make intentional, healthier choices. Through blending personal stories, clinical insights and real-life examples, the book explores how health decisions influence the way one loves and lives.
“As a registered nurse and proud Los Angeles native, I’ve seen firsthand how preventable illness impacts our communities — especially communities of color,” Uribe said. “This book is my way of sharing what I’ve learned at the bedside at home, and in my own healing journey.”
“Un Billón Mindset: Health” primarily discusses Type 2 diabetes, which is both preventable, and in some cases reversible. It was important for Uribe to write this book in honor of her brother.
“Although he didn’t have type 2 diabetes, the experience pushed me to speak up about the silent killers affecting our communities — especially the ones we can do something about,” Uribe said. “I couldn’t stay silent knowing that so many lives could be saved with just a little more awareness and education.”
Within the book, Uribe includes lifestyle changes that readers can adopt, like intermittent fasting, hydration and supplements to help get their health on track.
“Health isn’t just personal — it’s generational,” Uribe said. “My hope is that through small, consistent changes, we can build a future where wellness is the norm, not the exception.”
The author would like her book to spark a shift in readers that leaves them feeling not only seen but also heard and guided.
“I hope readers walk away feeling empowered to take ownership of their health — maybe for the first time in their lives,” Uribe said. “I want them to realize that healing doesn’t have to start in a hospital or after a diagnosis; it starts in the mind — with awareness, small daily choices and the belief that you are worthy of a long, vibrant life.”
