Ground broken for entertainment production campus

Mayor Karen Bass, center, joins other dignitaries July 16 for ground-breaking ceremonies for East End Studios Mission Campus. The $230 million project in the city Arts District east of downtown will feature five stages ranging in size from 14,000 to 35,000 square feet and other amenities for entertainment production.

State grant helps put Lynwood students on career paths

Lynwood Unified School District students will be able to enhance career technical education pathways through a $2.2 million Golden State Pathways Program grant. Through the program, the district will form academic and industry partnerships to provide students with hands-on training.

Exide battery plant may be added to EPA Superfund list

Large tarps supported by scaffolding cover what remains of the Exide Technology plant in Vernon. The federal Environmental Protection Agency has added the site to its national priorities list of Superfund sites. The listing could pave the way for federal resources to fund and oversee cleanup efforts of the contaminated groundwater.
