Large tarps supported by scaffolding cover what remains of the Exide Technology plant in Vernon. The federal Environmental Protection Agency has added the site to its national priorities list of Superfund sites. The listing could pave the way for federal resources to fund and oversee cleanup efforts of the contaminated groundwater.
