Two major art events are being held this week, showcasing the region’s vibrant art scene.
The Venice Art Crawl, a Venice Chamber of Commerce-hosted event, takes the lead from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug 21, transforming downtown Venice into an eclectic art gallery.
For one night only, local businesses and galleries will open their doors to display an array of artistic talents, from paintings to sculptures and installations.
The art will include a diverse range of artistic styles. There also will be live music and art installations.
“The Venice Art Crawl is more than just an art walk — it’s a celebration of Venice’s creative spirit,” said Venice Art Crawl President Sunny Bak. “Attendees get the chance to explore unique art in unexpected places, neighbors’ homes and yards, meet local and international artists, and experience the neighborhood in a completely new way. It’s a great opportunity to connect with the community, discover new voices in the art world, and meet iconic artists like Jules Muck and be inspired.”
Bak said the Venice Art Crawl’s mission is to connect the community through art events that are free and open to the public, to showcase local talent and to preserve Venice’s longstanding reputation as a hub of creativity and culture.
“We want to make art accessible to everyone and to keep the spirit of Venice’s artistic history alive for future generations,” Bak said.
This year, the Venice Art Crawl will showcase a diverse mix of established and emerging artists.
“Each artist has their unique vision, their connection to Venice and their ability to push boundaries with their work,” Bak said. “The crawl always strives for inclusivity — bringing together painters, photographers, sculptors, performers, digital artists and more — so that visitors experience the full range of creativity happening today.”
Attendees can expect to see everything from large-scale murals, interactive installations and photography to sculpture, painting, video and performance art.
“The crawl is known for transforming unexpected venues—restaurants, galleries, storefronts, and outdoor spaces—into vibrant art experiences,” Bak said.
Visitors can stroll through the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of the city’s thriving arts community.
Just two days later, the El Segundo Art Walk is set to spread art and music throughout downtown El Segundo and Smoky Hollow.
The El Segundo Art Walk is an independently organized, self-guided art event.
Creative businesses transform their spaces to allow Los Angeles-based artists to showcase their work.
Attractions also include food trucks, live music and sponsored experiences.
More than 50 creative businesses will open their doors for the free summer walking art tour, offering studio tours and art exhibits featuring local artists.
The event is free and self-guided, making it accessible to everyone
The El Segundo Art Walk takes place from 3 to 9 p.m. Aug. 23.
