LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Urban League welcomed more than 700 job seekers to its 2025 Career Fair on Nov. 18 at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. Held during a period of heightened economic strain — with Los Angeles County unemployment at 6.3% and a prolonged federal shutdown affecting workers across the country — the event provided a vital bridge between opportunity and those who need it most.

This year’s Career Fair continued the Urban League’s century-long mission to advance economic empowerment and workforce equity by bringing together adult job seekers and students ages 14 to 29 with employers offering internships, entry-level roles, and full-time career pathways.

“During a time when many Angelenos are facing financial uncertainty, the Los Angeles Urban League’s Career Fair offered stability, opportunity, and hope,” said Cynthia Mitchell-Heard, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League. “Seeing more than 700 people walk through those doors underscores how deeply our community values direct access to employers who can open doors to long-term success.”

“This year’s attendance was significantly higher, reflecting just how essential these resources are right now,” said Darrell Hills, workforce development lead for the Urban League. “This event is a bridge — not just between employers and job seekers, but between today’s challenges and tomorrow’s possibilities. Every participating company played a powerful role in strengthening Los Angeles’ economic ecosystem.”

More than two dozen employers, agencies, and community partners participated, including AIDS Healthcare Foundation; ALG; Arlice Marshall; the city of Los Angeles; city of Torrance Transit; Diligent Staffing Inc.; EDD – Workforce Services; Employment Development Department; Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles; Los Angeles Police Department; Los Angeles Black Worker Center; Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources; Los Angeles County Probation Department; Los Angeles South Chamber of Commerce; Los Angeles Unified School District; NPower; Office of LA City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto; SMP Engineering, Inc.; Star View Adolescent Center; Star View Behavioral Health; State of Illinois; Torrance Logistics Company; UNITE-LA; UPS; and WLCAC / Southeast WorkSource.

For more than a century, the Urban League  has helped African Americans and other underserved communities achieve equity and economic self-reliance through education, job training, housing, entrepreneurship and advocacy. Under the leadership of Cynthia Mitchell-Heard, the first woman to lead the organization in its 100-year history, the Los Angeles Urban League continues to champion innovative solutions that strengthen communities and build pathways to prosperity across the greater Los Angeles region.
