Bell marks reopening of Pritchard Field Park

Wave Staff Report

BELL — The city opened the newly revitalized Pritchard Field Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony April 25. The project marks a significant investment in community wellness, expanding access to high-quality recreational space for residents of all ages.

Pritchard Field Park has been thoughtfully reimagined as a multi-use destination designed to encourage connection, activity, and creativity. The park features a wide range of amenities, including a playground, the city’s first dog park coming soon, picnic areas, fitness stations and a walking trail. Additional improvements include a restroom and office building, native plant garden, public art space and upgraded parking, landscaping, lighting and irrigation.

“Today marks an exciting milestone for our community,” Mayor Ali Saleh said. “Pritchard Field Park is a place where families can spend time together, children can play, and neighbors can connect. We’re proud to open a space that truly reflects the spirit of our city.”

The approximately $7.5 million project was made possible through a combination of local, state and federal funding. The city received $1.1 million in federal funds secured by U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia, along with $4.5 million from the state. These investments reflect strong partnerships focused on improving the quality of life and expanding access to public amenities, a city spokesperson said.

“This park represents our continued commitment to investing in spaces that bring our community together,” City Manager Michael Antwine said. “Pritchard Field Park is designed to serve residents today while providing long-term value for future generations.”

The opening of Pritchard Field Park is part of the city’s broader RISE with Bell initiative, which focuses on reinvestment in public infrastructure, including expanding access to green space, and creating inclusive, community-centered environments.
