“How to Go from Extra to Actor: The aspiring actor’s guide to stardom,” by actor Ro Brooks, is an essential read for aspiring actors.
The book was inspired by Brooks’ own journey. He has worked in numerous films, commercials and television shows, including “The Haves and the Have Nots,” “Shameless,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and many more.
“My book was inspired by aspiring actors as well as my own journey starting as an aspiring actor myself in the early 90s,” Brooks said. “When I started acting there was a huge lack of resources for aspiring actors.”
The book serves as a strong resource for actors as it guides them from the steps becoming an extra to ultimately an actor with speaking roles. Brooks offers practical tools and advice for background talent to become successful actors.
“It was important for me to create my book because I believe in ‘paying it forward,’” Brooks said. “I know and have experienced what it’s like not knowing and not having anyone to turn to for help, assistance, guidance; knowledge is everything.”
“How to Go from Extra to Actor” will encourage readers as they start or continue their journeys in the entertainment industry.
“My intended audience is aspiring actors, actors, background actors and anyone who may have an interest to become an actor or just curious of the process of becoming an actor,” Brooks said.
