BILL VAUGHAN’S TASTY CLIPS: Coco Jones among Women Behind The Music honorees

Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Coco Jones has been named as one of the luminaries to be honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) at their 16th annual Women Behind The Music event in LA.
The 26-year-old vocalist of the platinum selling single “ICU,” who has been showcasing her formidable acting skills playing Hilary Banks in Peacock’s Fresh Prince reboot, “Bel-Air,” will be honored along with Emmy-winning composer Amanda Jones (“Home Season,” “Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa”), and Grammy-winning songwriter and copywrite advocate Autumn Rowe (Jon Batiste’s “We Are,” Alexis Jordan’s “Happiness,” the official song of the FIFA World Cup).
Women Behind the Music recognizes inspiring women in the music community, honoring songwriters, artists and executives including managers, attorneys, label executives and music publishers. These culture shifters impact and elevate the music industry and Black music community.
Past honorees include Grammy-winning singer-songwriters Kandi Burruss and Kelly Rowland, hip-hop legends Salt-N-Pepa, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriters Summer Walker, Jazmine Sullivan and Victoria Monét, legendary musician and singer Sheila E., head of urban music at Columbia Records Phylicia Fant, and more.
DJ Niyah will provide music at the event to be held Nov. 12 at The Fleur Room.
RED CARPET WALK: Universal’s “Wicked,” the film adaptation of the Oz-based hit Broadway musical from Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “In the Heights”) has its Hollywood Premiere on Nov. 9 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in the LA Music Center. Expect stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum and more around 4 p.m.

Nov. 14 – “Cross” (Prime): An eight-episode series starring Aldis Hodge (“City on a Hill,” “Black Adam“) as Alex Cross, novelist James Patterson’s detective and forensic psychologist previously portrayed in movies by Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry. The show, with fellow heartthrob Isaiah Mustafa (The Man Your Man Could Smell Like in Old Spice commercials), has already been renewed for a second season. “Style Me For Christmas” (BET+): Starring Naturi Naughton-Lewis (“Power,” “Queens”) as a compromised fashion designer trying not to fall for a famous R&B singer who hires her to style his holiday tour. “The Day of the Jackal” (Peacock): Another version of the cat-and-mouse thriller this time with Eddie Redmayne as the titled assassin and Lashana Lynch (“The Woman King”) as his tracker. “Tamron Hall” (Syn): Jaleel White “Holidazed” (Hallmark+): Dennis Haysbert, Loretta Devine and Viriginia Madsen have roles in this series following five families in Oak Bay, Oregon, who live on the same cul de sac, as they deal with the joys and stress of coming home for the holidays.
