“Living While Distracted,” by Marlo Afflalo, is a dynamic new book that instructs readers to leave their distractions behind and operate in God’s will for their lives.

Afflalo was inspired decades ago by God to create her book when she found herself living while distracted of being. “God always gives it to me fast, but sometimes I get it slow,”Afflalo said. “He dropped it into my spirit very plainly that Christians are living while distracted from their main purpose; the purpose is to ‘make disciples of all men.’”

Inside the book, Afflalo shares mindset shifts that Christians can make in their effort to put God first. The mindsets shifts are: salvation, overcome, purpose, equipped and fulfilled.

“Embracing these mindset shifts by reframing the way we think about our life’s purpose are the first steps toward leading a focused, fruitful and fulfilled life in Christ,” Afflalo said. “I’m convinced that no one can satisfy our souls like Jesus, and until we get ourselves in line with God’s plan, we will not have complete satisfaction in our lives — which is the satisfaction God intends us all to have.”

Afflao also shares her story and how it relates to particular chapters. She offers insight into the ways in which she lived while she was distracted and God’s answers to those distractions. She also includes scriptures and written exercises that encourage readers to evaluate their spiritual gifts, examine the highs and lows of their life and more.

“Living While Distracted” is intended for adult women and men and can be read multiple times throughout one’s adult life. Afflalo hopes her book proves to be inspiring for readers and that they walk in their calling.

“If you find yourself living while distracted, use the strategies in this book to choose life,” Afflalo said. “Identify the distractions in your life and surrender them to God. Operate in your spiritual gifts to accomplish your purpose in life.”

“Living While Distracted” is the author’s first book. She will host a book signing at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 3740 Don Felipe Drive.

In addition to being an author, Afflalo is a transformational speaker and coach. She is based in the Windsor Hills community of Los Angeles. For more information about the author and her work, visit living-enterprise.com.
