Reparations bills delayed in Legislature

Agency builds bridges against hate for local youth

Participants in the Bridge Builders Foundation, a South Los Angeles nonprofit agency, learn about tolerance and acceptance through a variety of programs that offer social, emotional and cultural supports other institutions may not provide. Official reparations plan one step closer in L.A.

Capri Maddox, executive director of the Los Angeles Department of Civil Rights, was among the speakers Aug. 27 at Cal State Northridge where a 56-page executive summary of a report from the city’s Reparations Advisory Commission was released. The document will be used by city officials to develop a formal reparations program.
