CULVER CITY — Culver City High School teacher Kimberly Young has been selected to receive the California Council for the Social Studies 2024 Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice Educator Award.
“Your hard work, dedication and commitment to high quality social studies education is clearly evident and worthy of this highly coveted award,” said Rebecca Valbuena on behalf of the council’s Awards Committee.
The award recognizes educators in elementary, middle, high school and university and college level who have advocated for women, the LGBT community, Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos, immigrants, disabled people and people of diverse religious, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds in their classrooms and their communities.
Young will be honored, along with other awardees at a special event during the 2024 California Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference March 9 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove.
