LOS ANGELES — The National Urban League’s annual conference will return to Los Angeles in 2027 for the first time in 25 years, with a formal announcement scheduled to be made April 22.
National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial, Los Angeles Urban League President and CEO Cynthia Mitchell-Heard and Los Angeles City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson are expected to outline details of the conference at a news conference April 22 at the InterContinental Hotel downtown.
“More than a conference, the National Urban League’s annual gathering is one of the nation’s largest and most influential civil rights and urban policy convenings — driving national conversations on economic empowerment, workforce development, social justice, and equity,” organizers said in a statement released April 16. “Its return to Los Angeles underscores the city’s central role in shaping the future of opportunity and inclusion.”
The conference, scheduled for July 28-31, 2027, is expected to draw thousands of attendees, including policymakers, business leaders and advocates from across the country, organizers said.
It will address the urgent challenges facing communities nationwide, including threats to civil rights, economic inequality, and barriers to opportunity — while spotlighting solutions and partnerships emerging from Los Angeles.
In addition to high-level policy discussions, the conference will feature major public-facing events, including a career and networking fair, community and family day expo, and a small business matters entrepreneurship summit.
The Los Angeles Urban League will host the event, which is projected to generate economic activity and provide opportunities for local businesses, job seekers and entrepreneurs.
