On the internet, Keiko Kei’s life seemed perfect. She was a successful social media influencer with a hustler’s mentality to match.

But as her life seemed to elevate on social media, her life offline was far from perfect, leaving her to decide if being a famous influencer was really worth it.

So goes “The Secret Life of an Insta-Baddie,” by Jai Love.

This is the author’s first book and it was inspired by social media.

“Social media plays a big factor in the lives of many; to the point where people are idolizing influencers,” Love said. “They see the glitz and glam, and they are automatically allowing what they see on social media to affect them mentally; people start to question themselves.”

“The Secret Life of an Insta-Baddie” will entertain readers with its realistic and relatable storyline but it will also teach readers lessons about self-worth and the power of authenticity.

“Writing my book helped show people that even though you can have all the money in the world, you can still live an unhappy life; even a lonely life too,” Love said.

It was important for Love to produce a book that shed light on the realities of social media and its effects.

“I have people around me who base their lives around social media; they are going broke trying to keep up with the glamorous life, or trying to live the life that some are portraying on the internet,” Love said. “They believe that the ‘IG Baddies’ are all perfect and have no flaws.”

The book inspires readers to be their best selves and not be consumed by the lifestyles of social media influencers.

“I want readers to know how important it is to live your life for yourself, and focus on what makes you happy…,” Love said. “It’s important to be your true authentic self, and not be fooled by the mask that people wear on the internet for their followers.”

In addition to being an author, Love is a mother and works for the Department of Homeland Security in Los Angeles. She is currently working on a new book. To connect with the author, visit Facebook or Instagram: @authorjailove.
