“A Peace of Me: A Black Man’s Journey to Love and Commitment,” by Randall Courtland Davis, is a new book that offers insight to an average black man’s perspective on the path to love and commitment.

In the book, Davis shares his own journey of growth and self-discovery.

He describes the inspiration for his book as divine in nature.

“I posted on Facebook in 2016 for seven days, starting each post with ‘Dear Future Wife,’ followed by each post was a declaration of love to whomever she was, and what to expect from a love that would never be hidden,” Davis said. “What makes it divine is that by Wednesday of posting, two childhood friends, an hour apart, texted me [asking] if I was writing a book.”

The positive response he received from the posts communicated to Davis that he should write a book; it was important for him to write it for two reasons.

“One, to show my obedience to the most high because I don’t believe in coincidence,” Davis said. “I believe Yahuah was being anonymous using my friends to direct me to write the book and second, I felt I could give women a peek of this man’s views on relations from a vulnerable space in the expectations that men will learn to become more vulnerable as well.”

“A Peace of Me” sheds light on universal topics such as marriage, divorce, fatherhood, the healing process and more.

The audience for “A Peace of Me” is primarily Black men, women and couples. The book is designed to get readers to seek healthier relationships.

“My hope is for our people to seek both individual and couples’ therapy and learn to take risks on themselves in love for the betterment of our culture,” Davis said.

The author recognizes that everyone has a story and encourages his readers to not be fearful of sharing their experiences but to become better communicators of their thoughts and feelings.

“I believe everyone’s translucent testimony will enhance our chances of surviving,” Davis said.

In addition to being an author, he works in the field of hospitality and he’s a screenwriter. He is based in Los Angeles.
