WEST HOLLYWOOD — The city will hold its annual Halloween Carnaval, one of the most unique Halloween gatherings in the world, Oct. 31 with tens of thousands of costumed revelers descending on the city’s Rainbow District along Santa Monica Boulevard from 6 to 11 p.m.

The Halloween Carnaval is free and open to the public. A one-mile stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic. A stage at Santa Monica and San Vicente Boulevard will feature a live DJ and food trucks.

First held in 1987, the Halloween Carnaval is rooted in the city’s diverse culture with celebrants in colorful costumes. People come from all over the region to take part in the fun.

To ensure a safe event for everyone, the city and the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station remind attendees about important safety guidelines that include leaving young children and animal companions at home; no alcohol along the route and no drinking in public; no weapons and no drones.

The city’s security ambassadors will provide visible presence, supplemental safety services and hospitality.

The city has suspended permit parking restrictions from 11 a.m. Oct. 31 to noon Nov. 1. West Hollywood Park and its five-story parking structure will be closed all day Oct. 31.
