BOOK CORNER: Author outlines path for achieving business success in new narrative

“Dare to Become: From the Corner Booth to the Corner Office,” by Julie Cropp Gareleck, is an authentic narrative that chronicles the author’s life as she dared to dream and ultimately succeeded in establishing her own business.

The author was inspired to write the book following a period where she felt stuck and unable to see the next milestone, after 13 years in business. This led her to revisit over 30 years of personal journals she had written.

“I was reminded of my younger, more fearless self and it helped me get unstuck,” Gareleck said. “That is when I realized that there are likely millions of entrepreneurs around the world who are struggling with similar challenges and looking for comaraderie or just a reminder that they are on the right path — and that it will be OK.”

Within the book, Gareleck shares stories of her experiences working at her parents’ restaurant as a teenager, when she worked in the corporate world, and what she learned as a business owner.

Chapters address themes of adversity, communication, responsibility, how to fund a business, developing one’s own management style and more. At the end of each chapter, Gareleck includes three bullet points that represent the key highlights to take away from the chapter.

“The inscription on the book is ‘The book is written for those who aspire to be and dare to become,’ because you have to aspire to be something in order to dare to become that person,” Gareleck said.

“Dare to Become” will no doubt pique the interest of readers and equip entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to reach their dreams.

As a trusted leader in business communities, Gareleck wanted to “inspire others — along their journey — or even just give them a sense that other people are experiencing the same struggles as they reach for success.”

In addition to being an author, Gareleck is the CEO of a consulting firm and hosts speaking engagements. She is based in Atlanta. For more information about the author and her work, visit juliecroppgareleck.com.
