“50 Movies Made: Lessons Learned on a Filmmaker’s Journey,” by Jared Cohn, is a new book that shares the author’s journey as he navigated the competitive film industry, ultimately achieving his lifelong dream.

“I go chronologically from the first movie I did to the last movie I did,” Cohn said. “It’s really about the journey; my story and my journey with thoughts and advice interwoven in.”

Cohn is a film/television director, writer, producer, and actor who has directed more than 50 films. His book was inspired by that fact.

“When I started telling people I made 50 movies, the title ‘50 movies’ came and I thought I should write a book,” the author said.

The informative book is classified as an easy-to-read and digestible book that offers insider knowledge. It will no doubt be enjoyed by persons interested in Hollywood, the independent movie business, filmmaking and acting. Cohn shares “how to” insider tips such as how to obtain distribution, how to get your script read and more.

“I have a lot of experience and have been through a lot to be able to have a career,” Cohn said. “I am hopeful sharing my knowledge is beneficial to some filmmakers looking to learn more on how to succeed.”

Inside the book, readers encounter behind-the-scenes stories of Cohn’s adventures, hard lessons he’s learned along the way, all facets of the movie making process — from screenwriting and preproduction to production, post-production and distribution — and much more.

“There’s a few chapters, about some of the movies I’ve done. Some of the things that happened are so insane,” Cohn said. “My favorite is when I got my first real break, directing a made-for-TV movie.”

Through sharing his story, Cohn offers readers insight into some of the qualities that are required to enter and survive the film industry.

“It takes resiliency, perseverance, grit and hustle,” Cohn said. “A lot of it is about how to hustle.”

Some of Cohn’s films include “Born Bad,” “12/12/12” and “Vendetta.” His latest movie, “The Getback,” premieres on Tubi May 19. Cohn is based in Sherman Oaks. For more information about the author and his work, visit jaredcohn.com.
