“God’s Love for the Grieving Widow,” by Crystal King Iwuoma, is a daily prayer journal that empowers women to move forward, with God’s help, in the midst of loss and grief.

“This journal reminds widows of how important they are to God, that they are not forgotten or alone on this journey, and helps to shed light on the widows left behind in the shadows,” King said.

King was inspired to write the book following the sudden passing of her husband, after 34 years of marriage and during the isolation she felt as a widow.

“The word ‘widow’ is mentioned over 80 times in the Bible, but rarely mentioned in church,” King said. “I kept feeling like we were left behind in the shadows of the church, because I tried to go there for help and there was no help for us. There was no place for us widows and widowers, but they had something for everybody else. So I started writing and I was inspired to write a book.”

“God’s Love for the Grieving Widow” is filled with scriptures that are specifically dedicated to widows, all intended to spark reflection in the minds of readers and for them to apply the messages to their own lives.

“My hope with this is for readers to actually go to the scripture and then to reflect on how God has defended them and how God has worked in their life pertaining to the scripture,” King said. “It was very important to me to let other widows know how important we are to God and that he holds a special place in his heart for the widow.”

“God’s Love for the Grieving Widow” is intended for widows and widowers of all ages.

“I want readers to know after reading my book that they can always go back when they feel they can’t make it without their spouse,” King said. “They can go back and reflect on how important we are to God and that we do matter, that we do have a voice and we can speak out.”

In addition to being an author, King operates the home-based bakery Serendipity Tasty Treats and she facilitates a group called Honored Widows. She also participates in speaking engagements. To connect with the author visit her on social media via Facebook and Instagram @honoredwidows.
