āWanna Hide Something From a N*gga, Put It in a Book,ā by D. Haynes, is a new self-help book that delves into problems plaguing the Black community and offers insight into addressing these problems.
āIt was important for me to create my book because I had a message that deserved to be shared and I hadnāt found a book quite like this one,ā said Haynes. āToni Morrison has a quote that I love: āIf thereās a book you want to read, but it hasnāt been written yet, then you must write it.ā That stuck with me and, as a writer, this was that book for me.ā
āWanna Hide Somethingā is Haynesā first book and itās made up of seven chapters that will inspire and empower readers.
āMy book was inspired by my love for the Black community and wanting us to continue to learn and grow as a community,ā said the author.
In the book, Haynes sheds light on examples of Black excellence throughout history, education, music, sports, medicine and more. He also emphasizes the power of reading, financial literacy, self-education and knowing Black history prior to the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
āMy favorite part of my book is the concept of the book itself,ā he said. āIt takes a phrase that was originally meant purely as an insult and attempts to show how reading and self-education can be a tool to build our communities.ā
āWanna Hide Somethingā is a book that will prove beneficial to a wide audience.
āMy intended audience is the Black community and anyone concerned about the people in our communities and learning more Black history,ā Haynes said. āI hope readers will gain more appreciation for the power of knowledge, reading, and self-education while learning more about our history.ā
In addition to being an author Haynes works in the field of public and community relations. Haynes is also an authors coach who works to help others interested in releasing books. He is based in Gardena. For more information about the author and his work, visit DHaynesTheAuthor.com.
