“Hello Anxiety, My Old Friend: Harness Your Invisible Superpower,” by Natalie Kohlhaas, is a thought-provoking new book that addresses fear and anxiety.

As a licensed therapist with more than 20 years of experience, Kohlhaas found it important to produce a book that shed light on such an important topic.

“Today’s world is pressing me to reach more people,” Kohlhaas said. “We are in a mental health crisis that needs assistance.”

Her clients inspired her book.

“My clients say, ‘I have never heard anyone talk about anxiety how you do, and it makes so much sense when you explain it,’” Kohlhaas said. “I finally did listen to them and I’ve now put it all together hopefully in a way that is a little bit meaningful and people can use some real-world examples.”

Inside the book, Kohlhaas walks readers through some of the miracles she’s experienced in her own life such as surviving cancer, cardiac arrest and an embolism and how these situations have helped her to understand how anxiety is a misunderstood emotion. She also offers readers practical tools on how to utilize anxiety and not allow fear to hold them back.

“So many people lump together anxiety and fear as one thing,” said the author. “What I work with individuals on is kind of detangling that so that they can understand that fear is one aspect and anxiety is kind of walking with fear but in that walk, anxiety is watching over fear as a gatekeeper.”

“Hello Anxiety, My Old Friend” is intended for those who struggle with anxiety and want to push away feelings of anxiety. It’s the author’s hope that her book proves to be impactful for readers.

“I hope readers gain an understanding of how fear and anxiety are different, as well as why and how they can listen to anxiety,” Kohlhaas said.

“Hello Anxiety, My Old Friend” is the author’s first book. She is working on a workbook and an online course related to the book. For more information about the author and her work visit natalie-kohlhaas-lpc.com and serenitytreehouse.com.
