Memoir offers faith-based guide for women to overcome heartbreak, rebuild after trauma: Book Corner

“The D.I.V.A. Herself: I Survived My Mess,” by La Shawn Denise Witt, is a story of transformation, resilience and faith.

“It chronicles the raw and often unspoken moments of pain, loss, love, and rebirth — and how I emerged not broken, but reborn,” Witt said. “It’s not just my story, it’s a mirror for any woman who has ever had to rebuild herself while still wearing her crown.”

Witt’s memoir was inspired by the difficult and often unspoken struggles she endured — such as heartbreak, betrayal, burnout and disappointment.

“One day God whispered to me, ‘Your mess will become your ministry;’ that became my motivation,” Witt said. “I wanted to show women that they’re not alone and that there is power in surviving and thriving beyond what tried to destroy them.”

Within the book, Witt blends powerful storytelling and life lessons, scriptures, affirmations, journal prompts and practical strategies.

“I knew I wasn’t the only woman sitting in board rooms, pews and behind podiums pretending to be OK,” Witt said. “Writing this book was my declaration that broken crayons still color — and that you can be both healing and leading at the same time.”

“The D.I.V.A Herself” will interest women who carry heavy loads in silence and are ready to be heard.

“It’s for the purpose producers, the faith-filled fighters and the women who smile on the outside but are screaming on the inside,” Witt said. “It’s especially for women navigating transitions — whether in career, relationships or identity.

“I hope readers walk away with renewed hope, fierce determination and a deeper belief in their divine assignment,” Witt added. “I want them to know they can survive anything and come out wiser, stronger and still worthy of love and legacy.”

In addition to being an author, Witt is an entrepreneur who owns businesses spanning wedding and event planning, travel concierge services and educational consulting, all of which support women’s empowerment. She is based in Inglewood. For more information about the author and her work, visit drlashawndenisewitt.com.
