INGLEWOOD — Stevie Wonder will perform at the Intuit Dome in December as part of a tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of his landmark album “Songs in the Key of Life.”
The 25-time Grammy Award winner will perform the album in its entirety at the Dec. 19 concert, according to organizers.
The concert also will support Wonder’s 26th House Full of Toys benefit, which assists children, people with disabilities and families in need. Concertgoers are being asked to bring an unwrapped toy or other gift.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 10.
The tour opens Oct. 13 in Birmingham, England. After 12 dates in Europe, the tour returns to the United States for shows at Madison Square Gardens in New York Nov. 19, the United Center in Chicago Nov. 21, two nights in Detroit Dec. 8 and 9, before the closing night show at the Intuit Dome.
Released in 1976, “Songs in the Key of Life” won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, the third of Wonder’s three wins in the category. The album went Diamond and has sold more than 10 million copies, according to the announcement.
The double album includes such songs as “Sir Duke,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “As” and “Love’s in Need of Love Today.”
Wonder, 76, has won 25 Grammy Awards as well as the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.
