Brooklyn Dodgers hurler Don Newcombe becomes the first player to win baseball’s Cy Young Award, signifying him as the best pitcher in the game. In the 1970s, he became the L.A. Dodgers’ director of community affairs and in 2009 became a special adviser to the chairman.
