Local McDonald’s operators are offering popup COVID-19 vaccination clinics through July 30.

With more than 70 owner-operators volunteering their locations for the popup sites, many have been successful at vaccinating crew members, their families and residents of the community at large.

On June 27, McDonald’s locations owned by Nicole Enearu and Kerri Harper-Howie in Carson and Compton hosted popup events offering both Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccinations to the community free of charge, due to the partnership between McDonald’s and the state Department of Public Health.

“We have a great relationship with McDonalds’s and for us as African-American female owners, operating in communities of color, we thought our locations would be ideal for reaching those hardest hit by the pandemic,” Enearu said.

The women were particularly motivated to offer access to the vaccine understanding the devastation the coronavirus has caused communities of color, along with the hesitancy people have to be vaccinated.

“I understand the perception of vaccine hesitancy, but also the bigger issues of access to internet and transportation, so we wanted to reach communities who have a hard time accessing these resources,” Harper-Howie said.

Their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, as Enearu and Harper-Howie have been consistent in providing support for the communities where they operate, including in the city of Carson.

“Nicole and Kerri always have a vested interest in the community and this popup site represents their continued passion and partnership with the city of Carson,” Carson City Councilman Jawane Hilton said.

Those who attended June 27, and received the Pfizer vaccination, will have an opportunity to get their second dose in three weeks at the same two locations: in Carson at 17455 S. Central Ave. and in Compton at 101 W. Compton Blvd.
