“Hang’n with the Girls: College Day” and “Hang’n with the Girls: Feed the Ducks,” by Morris Brown, are two books in an 11-book series that chronicles the adventures of Ty, Vanni and their dad as they spend quality time touring Los Angeles-based college campuses and embark on a duck-filled escapade.
In “Hang’n with the Girls: College Day” readers are presented with lessons surrounding the exploration, peace, serenity and quality time as the family visits the campuses of UCLA, Loyola Marymount University, and Otis College of Art and Design.
“Visiting all of these different college campuses really opens up your mind to the possibilities of what you could do in college,” Brown said.
While in “Hang’n with the Girls: Feed the Ducks,” the family goes on an adventure feeding wildlife.
“What unfolds is a tale that is intriguing, comical, and amazing to say the least,” Brown said. “Prepare for surprises, laughter, and ‘quacky’ adventures that will keep you enthralled.”
Each book was inspired by the real-life experiences the author shared with his daughters. It was important for him to chronicle their adventures and inspire other families.
“What I hope fathers take away from this book, and anybody really, is that spending quality time with your kids etches itself into their brains in ways you can’t imagine,” Brown said. “These impressionable young years are very important for you to do all of your critical groundwork as far as positive memories with your kids by spending quality time with them.”
The “Hang’n with the Girls” series can be enjoyed by the entire family. The reading level is 1-10 years old.
“For young readers, I hope that it motivates them to ask their parents to be more involved in their lives by doing some of the things that I did with my daughters,” said the author. “My two daughters are in their late 20s and early 30s now and we still hang out and have fun just like we did when they were young.”
In addition to being an author, Brown is an educator and artist, and educator. He is based in El Segundo. For more information about the author, his work, parenting resources and more, visit ihangwiththegirls.com.
